- Test drive vehicle and verified customers complaint. Whine noise is very loud. Sounds like the engine has a supercharger equipped. – Suspect internal transmission failure. Need to start with transmission pan removal. Looking for glitter in the fluid. Looking to see the transmission filter is properly installed.
- Removed transmission pan and inspected. Transmission fluid has sparkles in it. Indicating the transmission has failed internally. – Recommend proceed with transmission rebuild.
- Removed the transfer case, starter, transmission converter covers, transmission cooler lines, electrical connectors, vent hoses, engine wiring retainers, and related components necessary to access the transmission. Supported the transmission, removed the torque converter-to-flexplate fasteners, transmission cross fasteners, and separated the transmission from the engine. Secured the torque converter to prevent movement during removal and removed the transmission assembly from the vehicle. Transferred and inspected all necessary components for installation. Raised the replacement transmission into position, aligned the torque converter with the flexplate using the reference marks made during disassembly, and installed the transmission onto the engine dowels. Reinstalled and torqued all transmission mounting hardware, torque converter fasteners, cooler lines with new seals, electrical connectors, vent hoses, wiring retainers, starter assembly, transfer case, shields, and all remaining related components. Refilled the transmission with the correct specification fluid, verified proper fluid level, inspected for leaks, and confirmed proper transmission operation following installation.
